Is today a good day to grill?

or

A good grill day is mostly about what the weather does between late afternoon and dusk: no rain moving in, wind calm enough to keep the flame steady and the smoke predictable, and a temperature you actually want to stand outside in.

This tool scores exactly that window for your city — precipitation chances hour by hour, wind speed and gusts, and comfort — so you can commit to the cookout or move it before you've lit the coals.

Wind is the underrated spoiler: much past 20 mph it plays havoc with burner flames and charcoal temperature control, long before it bothers the cook.

How it works

We score today's grill conditions based on three factors for your location: temperature (ideal is 65–85°F), wind (under 12 mph is comfortable, over 20 gets tough), and precipitation (any meaningful rain chance hurts the score). Thunderstorms trigger an automatic "bad" rating — don't grill during lightning. Forecast data comes from Open-Meteo (with NOAA as a fallback) and refreshes with the site's daily update.
