How to use frost dates
The “last spring frost” is the average date after which freezing temperatures become unlikely — a common guide for when it’s safe to plant frost-sensitive crops. It’s an average, not a guarantee: about half of years see a frost a little later, so cautious gardeners wait a week or two past the date or keep cover handy. Each county is colored by its nearest NOAA station; southern and coastal areas in green rarely or never freeze.
